President's Message Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction

Spaghetti Dinner Volunteer Positions List

The SWOK Chapter of MOAA will hold a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser on Saturday the 18th of September at VFW Post #5263 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  The VFW post will cook the main meal.

One of my stated goals this year for the Chapter is to “Build the Financial Resources of the Chapter”. (Goal #8 of the 2021 Goals and Objectives posted to the website.) The purpose of building our financial resources is to increase the Chapter’s ability to support organizations that provide support to families of active duty service members and retirees and for the benefit of our Chapter members and families. This fundraiser is one method to achieve that goal. A Flyer announcing the fundraiser was posted to the website last week and I hope you have already saved the date and maybe even purchased tickets in advance from one of our Executive Board members. If you would be able to sell tickets to your friends and neighbors or to purchase them for yourself, please contact me or Bill Whisenant 580-695-5986. But it will take more than just selling tickets in advance to have a truly successful fundraiser, so I am asking for your help.

There are a number of ways that you can get involved to help with your Chapter fundraiser. As you know, it takes volunteers to execute any event. Volunteers will be needed for:

  • meal prep, making desserts and serving,
  • setting up and running the Silent Auction
  • cleaning up after the event.

We are also seeking donations for the silent auction. The more donations we have, the more successful we will be. A Volunteer Signup sheet will be posted on the website with the areas and times that volunteers are needed. We already have several signed up (see attached flyer). Please let me know ASAP when you wish to volunteer and if you can bring a dessert or provide a silent auction item. I will add you to the list.  My direct email is dennis.clippinger@sbcglobal.net.

We will be setting up for the fundraiser on Friday 17 September between 10am and 2pm at the VFW Post #5263. You can drop by anytime during those hours with the auction items and desserts. You can also drop off the desserts on Saturday morning at 10am.

Bill Whisenant has the pre-sale tickets available if you can help in that way or you can let me know how many you want and I can get them from him and arrange to meet you. All proceeds from pre-sale tickets must be dropped off no later than the day of the fundraiser. Bill and Marilyn Janosko are helping with setting up the fundraiser so you can also contact them with any questions.

Thanks in advance for your support. If you have any questions, you can always contact me at 580-585-0251.
