Presidents Update December 2022

2023 Chapter Goals and Objectives

2023 Slate of Officers

2023 Important Dates

All,

As 2022 rapidly comes to a close, it’s time to take a few moments to look forward to the coming year.   To that end, I have attached a few documents that require your attention.   I ask that you take a brief break from you holiday festivities to review these documents and take action as necessary.

The first item is the Chapter’s proposed Goals and supporting Objectives for 2023 which have been developed by your President and Executive Board.  As stated on our website: “Some Goals are core to the mission of MOAA.”  They do not change much from year to year and provide focus to what the Chapter needs to do on a continuing basis.  Some Goals or supporting Objectives reflect specific activities planned for the year based on our perceived needs and priorities.  These are not chiseled in stone and may be modified throughout the year as necessary.  As with any organization, success can only be achieved through a dedicated effort by all our members.”  Please take the time to review next year’s goals and provide your comments and suggestions to me by 31 December.

The next item is the proposed Slate of Officers for 2023.  We are going to do something a little different this year.  Rather that have a vote at our General Membership Meeting, which is attended by roughly 30 to 40 percent of the overall Chapter membership, we are going to do an electronic vote “by exception”.  I am asking the entire membership to review the proposed slate.  If you approve of the slate, no further action is required and your approval will be noted.  If you do not approve, please email your concerns to me no later than 6 January 2023.  If approval of the slate is indicated, the new officers will be installed at our next General Membership Meeting on 11 January 2023.

The final document is a listing of the dates of our General Membership Meetings and Executive Board Meetings for 2023.  I ask that you take a few moments to enter these on your calendar.  They are already posted to the calendar on our website.

A few closing thoughts.  As stated above, our next General Membership Meeting is 11 January 2023.  Please reserve this date and make plans to attend.  This meeting will feature the annual “State of the Chapter” briefing by the Chapter President.  This will be my last meeting as your President and I intend to make this briefing a little different.  New officers will be installed and an excellent meal has been planned to start the New Year.  Look for your invitation in your email immediately after Christmas.
